Duncan Stewart Pro Golfer

Grantown EuroPro Tour golfer Duncan Stewart's future has been boosted by a sponsorship from Peugeot car dealers Alan Milne Ltd of Elgin.

The talented 27-year-old, who was a Scotland boy's cap in 2002, launched a personal shares scheme to help him compete on the circuit.

He is trying to sell 150 shares at £100 a share.

Steven Milne, managing director of Alan Milne Ltd, said: "All of my family are interested in golf and I have known Duncan for 10 years.

"I know how hard it is to make a living out of golf and how difficult it is to work your way up the ladder.

"We therefore saw the potential for supporting Duncan, and Grantown is my area of interest for our Peugeot motor dealership and we have a lot of loyal customers there."

He added: "We have bought 10 shares and I know the Paul Lawrie Foundation recently bought 10 shares.

"Our support will, hopefully, give Duncan the carefree playing attitude he needs to compete as it costs £1,000 a week to travel up and down the country.

"In return, we get our name on his clothes and on his website. We would like to do some promotional stuff with him in the future, say at events like the Grantown Show."

Speaking on Monday, Stewart said: "It's fantastic that Alan Milne is supporting me, I can't thank the company enough.
