With the wide choice of trim levels, body styles and engines,, there is so much choice and it isn't easy to find a standout feature.If we were forced to make a choice we would have to go for the 1.6 litre,175 bhp turbo high pressure petrol engine which delivers low CO2 emissions, an amasing drive and excellent fuel economy. The positive, strong and solid acceleration is paired with a 6 speed manual gearbox, a match made in heaven.

We have just driven the exhilarating top of the range model, the Peugeot 308 GT. This car really turns heads and we love the head turning 18" alloy wheels, sporty front grille, full body colour bumpers and half-leather interior. The list of specification is impressive.

That's an average fuel consumption of 3.13 litre/100 km and C02 emissions of 85 g/km.

Looking after your carbon footprint

Peugeot have always pioneered and developed the HDi (High Pressure Direct Injection) diesel engines. These engines save more than 20% in fuel consumption compared to previous generation diesel engines. The environmental impact of these engines is led by the sub 120g/km engines HDi 90 and HDi 110 EGC. Peugeot has combined HDi technology with an efficient anti-pollution system called the Diesel Particulate Filter System (FAP), which eliminates diesel particles to within measurable limits. These engines are so clean that you can hold your shirt to the exhaust and have washing to do.

For even more green brownie points, add in the 6 speed electronically controlled manual gearbox (EGC) which is a manual box without the clutch pedal. This box has different methods of changing gear. It has paddles under the steering wheel, a sequential gear lever or automated function. As an alternative to a traditional manual or automatic gearbox, the EGC transmission ensures gains in fuel consumption and low CO2 figures.
